Controlled unclassified information (CUI) or FCI (federal contracting information) can be as basic as a label with a third-party name or as specific as a blueprint, intellectual property, or complete federal contract. Data that is sensitive does not have to be classified in order to be CUI. CUI includes identification, sharing, marking, safeguarding, storing, disseminating, destroying, and managing information.
